Robert Cosgrove,   
                Hero of the Pacific

Cosgrove enters his TBM Avenger on the U.S.S. Essex, somewhere in the Pacific in late 1944.

He flew alongside V.G. Lambert, who commanded VT-15.  Every pilot was awarded the Navy Cross, making it the most highly decorated squadron in the history of Naval Aviation.

1710 Pine Street, New Orleans in 1919.  At the end of WWI, nobody dreamed the baby boy would become a WWII carrier pilot.

Robert played clarinet in the Fortier High School Band 1932 or 1933.
He's 7th from left in the 2nd row, and later played in Tulane University Band.
